Dry vs. dehydrated skin: what every mum-to-be should know
When your skin feels tight, flaky, or just “off,” it’s tempting to label it as dry. Knowing whether your skin is dry or dehydrated is key, especially during pregnancy or postpartum, when your skin’s needs can change overnight.
Dry skin vs. dehydrated skin: what’s the difference?
- Dry skin is a skin type. It means your skin produces less oil (sebum) than it needs. You’ll often notice flakiness, rough texture, and sometimes irritation. It’s ongoing and usually genetic.
- Dehydrated skin is a temporary condition. It’s a lack of water in the skin, not oil. Your skin might look dull, feel tight, and even show fine lines more quickly.
